Qualterra Hires Casey Vetsch as Biochar Sales Executive

Spokane, WA – June 10, 2025 – For Immediate Release

Qualterra, a leader in high-quality agricultural crop plant production and soil amendment technologies, is pleased to announce the appointment of Casey Vetsch as Biochar Sales Executive. This newly created role reflects the company’s continued expansion into soil health innovations while driving improved agronomic performance for growers.

Vetsch brings more than 15 years of hands-on agricultural experience, most recently serving as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture. There, she championed regenerative practices across large-scale orchard systems, spearheaded soil health initiatives, and led pollinator habitat projects that helped secure Bee Friendly Farming and Leading Harvest certifications.

“Casey has been on the front lines of agricultural transformation, and her expertise in soil systems, grower engagement, and regenerative practices makes her uniquely qualified to represent our biochar division,” said Mike Werner, CEO of Qualterra. “Her values align closely with our mission to support growers with sustainable, economically viable solutions that improve both crop yields and the environment.”

As Biochar Sales Executive, Vetsch will lead the commercialization of Qualterra’s biochar product line, helping growers across the Pacific Northwest and beyond enhance soil fertility, retain water, and reduce carbon emissions. Her scientific background in herbal medicine, combined with practical field experience and a passion for land stewardship, positions her as a dynamic partner to customers seeking sustainable alternatives in their operations.

“Joining Qualterra is a natural next step in my career,” said Vetsch. “I’ve long believed in the power of nature-based solutions like biochar to restore soil health, build resilience, and drive economic improvement for growers. I’m excited to bring my knowledge and passion to a team that’s actively building a more regenerative agricultural future.”

Vetsch’s career has spanned diverse sectors—from directing extraction labs in Washington State to developing sustainability protocols and participating in global working groups on carbon and soil health. She was recently featured in the Women in Agribusiness professional spotlight for her innovative work in orchard management and regenerative agriculture.

“Casey is not only deeply knowledgeable but also a natural connector and educator,” said Tim O’Brien, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Qualterra. “She brings a unique blend of technical savvy, field experience, and heartfelt commitment to the land. We’re thrilled to have her lead our biochar outreach and sales efforts.”

Vetsch holds a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine from Bastyr University and an Associate of Science from Yakima Valley College. She was named a 2024 Soil Health Ambassador by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and was recognized as a Manulife Star of Excellence in 2021.
